Lemon balm

The melissa flowers are often visited by bees. Her name is also derived from it: Melissa in Greek means honey bee. It has a four-edged stem from which softly notched leaves emerge. The leaf axils carry delicate white-yellowish flowers. At midday, when the sun shines most intensively, a haze of its mild lemony-fresh scent surrounds it. Approximately 7000 kg of lemon balm herb yields 1 litre of essential oil. Its essential oil is also what makes it a medicinal or spice plant. In herbal medicine, lemon balm is used for nervous insomnia or to calm functional gastrointestinal complaints.

Skin: Its calming properties also have a positive effect on the skin: It gives it an appearance of smoothness.
